Welcome to the Herndon High School / NASA Headquarters FIRST Robotics Team, also known as Epsilon Delta, Team 116, along with its VEX sub-team #18. We participate annually in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and the FIRST Vex™ Challenge (FVC). The FRC competition is an intensive educational-enhancement program were the team spends six weeks brainstorming, designing, constructing and testing a moderately sized robot that will participate in some challenge, usually a game, presented at the competition. During this time period, students learn various skills regarding engineering, physics, mathematics, time management, leadership, teamwork, creativity, and problem solving, and put the skills they learn at school into practice. The FRC team has existed for 11 years at Herndon High School under the leadership of Cathy Bobzien and new this year, Joshua Ence, and has also enjoyed a strong partnership with the Headquarters of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration within the Robotics Educational Alliance program, and has enjoyed a great deal of support from local engineers, parents, and student alumni who have been through the FIRST program and have come back to help. The team consists of those participants already mentioned in addition to between thirty-five and forty-five students each year.

UPDATE: Team 116 did well at the VCU Regional, including winning the Autodesk Visualization Award - download - 130 MB.
