Regarding Art & Design: Glenanne has successfully submitted our team logo to the FIRST organization, so we will have our logo in the regional and national competition guides.
December 29, 2000
Regarding Travel: we now have an online copy of the Florida Travel Information.
December 28, 2000
Regarding Travel: "Good News. All travel arrangements for Florida have been finalized. We will be staying at the Howard Johnson Maingate East where we will have transportation to the competition and other Disney Parks. We will also have a 4 day park hopper pass and 3 Breakfast and 3 Lunch or Dinner coupons."
"The Student/volunteer contribution will be $250 per person. Since everyone attending has already paid a $50 deposit, then the balance due is $200 payable to HHS. This can be paid as early as the first day you return to school to Mr. Tripp or Mrs. Bobzein or at the Kick Off meetings the following weekend. The DROP DEAD DUE DATE is Tuesday, January 16th at 2:30pm. That means that if you do not pay your $200 balance by then, you will not go to Florida and will lose your $50 deposit."
"GUEST PRICES...if you plan to bring a guest, they will have the same park pass and meal coupons. The costs are as follows: Single Occupancy - $825 per person, Double Occupancy - $700 per person." -From Mrs. Murtland

Regarding Travel: the team was not able to get lodging on Disney property for the Florida trip. The travel committee must then start from square one and figure out costs again, which may again run higher than expected.
December 21, 2000
Regarding Travel: Mrs. Murtland has found a slightly more expensive flight that would allow the team to forego several other expenses. If combined with a small number of students in attendence, the prices might drop below $300. As of the meeting, only fifteen students had paid, less than half, so chances of a low attendence are good. Anyone who hasn't turned in money must by Friday, December 22, 2000.
Regarding Chairman's & Outreach: the outreach expedition to Dranesville Elementary School went fairly well. We received an audience of 120 students who displayed at least moderate enthusiasm for our presentation, especially for the robot itself. Nikki Bhumarom has more presentations planned.

Regarding Travel: "If you are interested in going to Florida, then you need to attend a meeting this Thursday Dec 21st at 7pm. As you know, we are running into some transportation issues regarding the Florida trip. In a nutshell, we are not able to get the flights that we need and the ones we are able to get are pushing the fees much higher than anticipated. This can push the student costs as high as $500 each (MUCH higher for guests). This is largely due to the timing being the weekend before Easter."
"We are considering a number of options from ONLY going to Richmond (not going to Florida), to staying an extra night, to taking a bus. We will be presenting all options on Thursday and reaching a FINAL group consensus." (Quoted from Dianne Murtland)

Regarding Travel: things will cost considerably more than expected this year. If you want to attend the national competition, you have to attend the meeting at 7:00pm on Thursday, December 21, 2000.
Regarding Website: the website section has been dissolved until further notice, except that Peter Jaffe, the acting leader, requires a volunteer to begin taking notes at each meeting.
Regarding Kickoff: we will meet on Saturday, January 6, 2001 starting at 9:00pm, with core times at 10:00am to 2:00pm, to view the national kickoff meeting. The following day, on Sunday, January 7, 2001, we will meet at 1:00pm for the local kickoff meeting.
December 15, 2000
Regarding Travel: if you plan to attend the national competition in Florida this coming April, you MUST turn in a $50 to Mr. Tripp by Friday, December the 22nd. Prices for travel expenses have increased this year dramatically and we must begin to finalize details now.
Regarding the Kickoff Meeting: we still plan to have a kickoff meeting on Sunday, January 7, 2001. We have not yet scheduled a time
